AADW Repertory Dance 423 for undergrads Dance 525/625 for grads
This work will be created during intensive rehearsals during Shannon Gillen's two-week residency. Gillen is planning to create a 10-15 minute work with the cast. The work will continue to be rehearsed and shown, and performances in Fall and Winter to be detailed soon.
Please make note of the following details.
Rehearsals: May 8-19, M-F: 6:00 PM-9:00 PM May 13: 10:00 AM-5:00 PM May 24 and May 31: 6:00-7:00 PM Fall 17: Fridays: 4-5:00 PM
Registration: Open to Dance majors and MFAs only by permission. Please contact Professor Jessica Fogel for permission: jkfogel@umich.edu. Dancers must be enrolled at U-M in Fall 2017 and Winter 2018. The repertory cannot be taken without the technique component. *** Students who will not be at U-M in Fall 2017 or Winter 2018 can participate in the repertory as an understudy, and thus will gain experience in a creative process with Gillen.
Cost: $275 includes the repertory and technique class. All students must pay this amount regardless of getting credit.
Academic Credit: Students can get 1 credit for repertory. This credit can be applied in Spring 2017, Fall 2017 or Winter 2018.
Technique Requirement: Dancers must take the Gillen technique classes May 8-19 (M-F, 4:10-5:40pm) to be in repertory, because learning her movement technique is part of the repertory experience.
May Showing: There may be an informal showing of the Gillen work on May 18 or 19. Details forthcoming soon.
Additional Requirements:
Dancers in the repertory must commit to continuing to rehearse this work on May 24 and May 31, and from 4:00-5:00 PM throughout the fall. Performances in Fall 17 and Winter 18 to be detailed soon.
If you will be registering for credit for the Gillen Rep in the Fall, you should register under DANCE 121-621, Sec. 003.
